Here are 6-Pages
of important information that will help make your adventure at Grand
Canyon one of the best experiences of your life. Please use them
in conjunction with your Hiker Participant Manual / Training Schedule.
Read each page carefully and do not hesitate to contact Karen or
Pam if you have any questions or comments.
From now until the
end of Conquer The Canyon, you will hear a few
statements from us, over and over. The reason is because they are
important to you and to all those around you who will be participating
in Conquer The Canyon.
The first thing
you will hear a lot is, THANK YOU! The entire Walking Connection
team is committed to making this an adventure and experience you
will remember for a lifetime. We will do everything in our power
to create a rewarding, fun and safe adventure for you every step
of the way to and while you are at Grand Canyon.
The word "safety"
brings us to the second word or phrase you will hear frequently
- BE SAFE! It is our number one priority while at Grand
Canyon. Please understand that literally thousands of people have
hiked in, out and around Grand Canyon with The Walking Connection
and over the years we have maintained an impeccable safety record.
We are proud of not only this record, but in the risk management
program that we developed and operate under our National Park Service
guidelines and Grand Canyon National Park permits. You can read
more about them on the following pages.
The last item
you will hear often is the word "TEAM"! During
your training and participation in Conquer The Canyon, we ask that
you always keep in mind that you are on a team.
Sometimes it is a team of just two people on a training hike together.
Sometime its a larger group hike, training clinic or fundraising
event. While in Arizona you will be part of a larger team comprised
of people just like you who have raised money in support of this
mission. And finally, while on the trail at Grand Canyon with Conquer
The Canyon, you will be on a guided team of just 6-8 hikers.
Please follow these
links and read each page carefully BEFORE you start your training
program.
