you have made a difference.”
Married with four
grown children, Steve and Marijane have fond memories of hiking
with their kids on the cliffs of Torrey Pines and other wilderness
areas near their Oceanside, CA home. They have spent plenty of
time outdoors from marathons in Big Sur to biking through Camp
Pendleton.
Timing, inspiration
and opportunity seem to have met when Steve and Marijane received
a letter last November from their friends in South Africa inviting
them to participate in the Promise Olives Project. The vision
of Promise Olives is to plant 7,800 olive trees on the Monte Christo
Farm that will help sustain a brighter future for the poor in
that region.
Steve and Marijane
saw that through Conquer the Canyon’s Program, there would
be a perfect template for inviting others to join them in hiking
together, building friendships, enjoying the beauty of nature
and at the same time raising money for a cause that they feel
passionate about.
Marijane has had
plenty of experience in fundraising over the years while leading,
training and mentoring women in her direct sales organization.
She knows first hand the amazing results that come about when
you encourage others to blend passion and purpose to get a job
done.
Marijane
believes that “although no ONE can do everything, every
ONE can do something.”
Shortly after Hurricane
Katrina, Marijane’s grass roots effort, Fashions
for Compassion, raised money and awareness that brought
relief to the devastated coastal areas of Mississippi.
Steve and Marijane
believe that when it comes to raising support or helping others
in need, if we will step out in faith and invite others to join
us in giving of their time or financial resources, there is certainly
no shortage of people willing to participate. Everyone wants to
know that they have made a positive difference in their world.
