the 2011 Hike for SHELTER
to help end homelessness in Contra Costa County.
SHELTER,
Inc. and Conquer The Canyon®,
have joined forces to alleviate homelessness in Contra Costa County.
In April of 2011, the Hike For SHELTER Team will be traveling to
the Grand Canyon State and Grand Canyon National Park for an exciting
and challenging 3-night/4-day walking and hiking adventure.
Hike
For SHELTER participants will have the opportunity to experience
the Grand Canyon on a personal level, up close, one step at a time.
Whether you choose the rolling hills and panoramic views of the
Rim Trail or steep descents into Grand Canyon of up to 3200’,
team members will hike and walk the trails accompanied by an expert
guide who will interpret the intricacies of the geology, history,
flora, fauna and environmental zones of the Canyon.
The
Grand Canyon is a place of magnificent beauty, a place unlike anywhere
else in the world. One of the greatest natural wonders of the world,
with its mile-high, multicolored rock walls, craggy cliffs, and
sandy slopes, it is the embodiment of nature’s awesome power
and surpassing beauty.
Join
us and enjoy this spectacular natural feature that extends for hundreds
of miles across a portion of the southwestern Colorado Plateau.
Your participation will increase awareness and raise funds to end
homelessness for families in our local community.
